Key Components of Volleyball  Camp & Tryouts:

Warm-ups & Testing: Initial drills often include pepper, serving, and agility tests (e.g., Coleman-McKenzie) to evaluate ball control.

Skill Stations: Specialized stations for setters, passers, and hitters are used to evaluate position-specific skills and techniques.

Scrimmaging: Players are evaluated in, 4v4, or 6v6 scenarios to observe game awareness, movement, rotation knowledge, and team dynamics.

Attitude & Communication: Coaches often prioritize high energy, loud communication, and resilience after errors over raw skill alone

Common Evaluated Skills & Traits:

Technical Proficiency: Passing accuracy, serving consistency, setting accuracy, and attacking form.

Mental Toughness: Ability to learn from mistakes, aggressiveness, and composure

What to Expect:

Identification: Players are often identified by a number written on their leg or a provided pinnie.

Fast-Paced Drills: Expect rapid rotations to maximize evaluation time.

Note-Taking: Evaluators will actively take notes on clipboards, sometimes in smaller, divided groups
